Thursday Evening Fused Glass Art Panel Workshop - Swindon

Make a framed fused glass panel in an evening. No experience needed.

85 British pounds
STUDIO - Swindon Old Town

Workshop Description

Spend an evening making something beautiful you will still love in ten years' time. Over two and a half hours at STUDIO in Swindon Old Town, you'll build a fused glass landscape panel from scratch. Choose bluebells in the woods, the meadow, poppies or daffodils, then draw in the trees and plant stems using enamel and lay out the whole thing yourself using coloured frit (crushed glass). We show you how it works, explain what the kiln will do to it, and stay beside you the whole way through. We even provide a template to help you draw if you want it, so no artistic skills are needed. There is no glass cutting and no experience needed. Everything comes pre-cut and ready, so you spend the evening on the part that matters, which is deciding where everything goes. Your finished panel measures 220 x 110mm and comes back to you in a 330 x 200mm frame, ready to hang. We take the pieces away, fire them in our glass kiln over 18 hours and frame them by hand. They are ready one to two weeks later. Groups are capped at twelve so there's time to talk to everyone properly. There are two of us running the session, so plenty of time to give you all the advice and help you need. What's included: Everything you need on the night. All glass, materials, tools, use of an apron and guidance, plus tea, coffee and biscuits, your frame, the kiln firing and the framing afterwards. Collecting your piece: Pieces are ready one to two weeks after the workshop and can be collected from STUDIO during normal opening hours. We will advise exact timings on the night. If getting back into Swindon is awkward, we can post yours instead for £6.95 per address to anywhere in the UK. Parking: There is a car park right behind the shop and only a minute walk away (140m). Britannia Place car park Hoopers Place, Swindon SN1 4BS £3.50 evening fee https://www.siliconpixelglassworks.com/workshop-location-map Timings: Session arrival from 6:15pm for a 6:30pm start. The evening finishes promptly at 9pm. Clothing: Please wear something comfortable, aprons are provided. Payment and cancellations: Payment is taken in full at the time of booking and is not refundable. We are happy to move you to another date if you give us at least 10 days notice. Accessibility: The whole evening can be done seated. Access does involve two small steps into the shop from the street, and the toilets are up a flight of stairs. Every piece is made with love, and by the end of the evening that will include yours.

Booking Policy

Booking and payment

Places are confirmed only when payment is received in full. Payment is taken at the time of booking.

Cancellation and rescheduling

You may reschedule to another date, or pass your place to someone else, provided you tell us at least 10 days before your workshop. We cut and prepare materials for each named participant in advance, so changes with less than 10 days' notice cannot be accommodated. Payments are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for credit. If you cannot attend, please reschedule or pass your place on using the 10 days' notice above. Non-attendance without notice forfeits payment. If we cancel, including for low numbers, you may choose a full refund or another date.

Your finished piece

Pieces are usually ready around two weeks later and we will email you when yours is. Collect from STUDIO during opening hours, or we can post anywhere in the UK for £6.95, arranged and paid for on the night. Please collect within a month. Fused glass is handmade and kiln fired. Some colours shift and glass can move in the kiln, so the finished piece may not look exactly as it did when you laid it out. Very rarely a piece can break during firing. If that happens we will remake it as closely as we can, at no cost to you.

Gift vouchers

Valid for 12 months from the date of issue and redeemable against a workshop taking place within that period. Gift vouchers are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash. Lost codes can be reissued if you contact us with the purchase details. If we cannot accommodate you within that period, we will offer the original purchaser a full refund.

On the evening

Workshops start promptly, so please arrive a few minutes early. Latecomers miss the demonstration and there is no time to repeat it. Loan aprons are provided. You will handle pre-cut glass. There is no cutting and no kiln on site, but edges can be sharp and we ask you to follow our guidance throughout. We may ask anyone behaving unsafely to leave, without refund. Please tell us when booking about any access requirements, allergies or dietary needs. Workshops are for adults. Ages 13+ are welcome when accompanied by a paying adult.

We sometimes photograph workshops and finished pieces for our website and social media. Just tell us on the night if you would rather not appear.
